Here I am starting off the new year with some ways to get your blogging butt into shape! I’m no expert but I’ve definitely learned a few things over the past year. I too need to re-evaluate my schedule and set goals for 2015. These are a few steps I’ll be taking in order to get LWSS prepared and hopefully can help you as well. . .
NEW STATIONARY – You’ll need a new calendar of course but it’s extremely satisfying to open up a fresh notebook to jot down all your blog info. I’m a sucker for journals and pens plus a having something tangible gives me a sense of direction. I had a journal at the beginning of the year and then switched to using the notes section on my phone but I must say I missed my notebook. I’ll be setting up my pages a little differently this year to keep me a bit more organized when it comes to posting, I’ve forgotten to add links so many times!
UPDATING BLOG INFO / DESIGN – It’s always a good idea to update your blogroll, about me page and contact info. It’s almost like giving your blog a check-up by making sure all the links are working properly. Perhaps you want to try a different look overall by using a new template or theme. You can always hire someone or purchase pre-made designs according to your style.
CLEANING OUT FOLDERS / E-MAILS – I’m so horrible at this but it’s so easy to accumulate thousands of junk mail or unused blog photos. I received an external hard drive for X-mas to free up space on my computer and to have room for more video files. I am also going to start an email section in my notebook so that I know if I’ve responded to them or not, I get so many throughout the day and forget to reply at times!
ORGANIZING WORKSPACE / MAKING SPACE – A clean workspace is a great way to get yourself motivated to work on new content. Having a huge clear out is also a good way to make room for new releases or items you may have received from the holidays. You can host a blog sale or donate makeup you aren’t using to friends & family. Try moving items around if you’re tired of looking at the same setup. I think I will be adding some more Muji drawers to my desktop to free up my shelf for stationary items.
WRITE DOWN GOALS AND STASH IT – I wrote my top 5 goals in the back of my blogging book and didn’t look at it until this am. Some like to place them where the goals are visible to keep motivated but I put them away to really test myself. I try to push my thought process and creativity to the max then look back to see if it has evolved in some way.
