Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet

Can I call this the little black box of wonders? Unlike it’s sister counterpart (Vitalumiere Aqua) the finish of this foundation is semi-matte. It’s liquid at first but once blended into the skin it’s exactly what it says on the bottle, velvet. Now if you’re a dry skin kinda gal this will cling to dry patches. Now I know matte sounds a bit scary at times but it feels weightless on the skin and is a light to medium coverage. I have an oily/combo t-zone so this is perfect for me! I chose the shade B40 which is a great match for my NC 35 skin tone. It lasts a good 6-8 hrs before I see it starts to wear off but there is still remittance of it on my face at the end of the night (foundations aren’t meant to last 24hrs like some claim to be). Like all Chanel products it is scented but nothing overwhelming. I’m super impressed with the formula and love how much of a skin-like finish I can achieve. I’ve found the best way to apply this foundation is with the good ol’ phalanges! I then take my damp beauty blender and use it all over the face just to make sure everything is worked into the skin. The packaging is so convenient for travel and contains 30ml of product. This pairs like a dream with the Chanel Le Blanc Sheer Illuminating Base, I’ve found that it really helps with longevity and giving the skin a nice subtle glow.

So again if you suffer from dry skin I advise picking up the Vitalumière Aqua which has a more dewy finish. The Perfection Lumiere will be great for oily skin types especially with summer approaching. So total win for moi!

Do you know how this compares to Hourglass Immaculate as far as matte-ness & oil control? It’s time for me to buy a matte foundation for summer and I can’t decide which! Of course, I guess I could just go to the Chanel counter and try it 🙂

    • I’ve tried Immaculate and that is super matte compared to the Chanel PLV. The PLV is a lot more lightweight on the skin! Go grab a sample girl!!!

Ok, you talked me into it! 🙂 I’ll need to do it soon too – right now I only have dewy foundations and they’re just not cutting it for warm weather.

        • : ) !!! I feel your pain dear I was in the same boat!

  • Mineyy

I was so torn between vitalumiere aqua and this, thanks for the review, now i’m thinkling about buying this one instead 🙂

    • Yay, I’m so glad I was able to help!

Is the oil-control really on point? I finally found the perfect powder foundation, but need a liquid for the warmer months. May have to invest in this (if they have my shade, grrr)!

    • You’ll def need to set it with powder! You will see shine throughout the day but for me it was minimal and I don’t mind a little shine, its makes the skin look fresh and supple! Get a sample and see if you like it!

I’m so bummed that this might not be great for dry skin since I had high hopes for this – oh well better luck next time :o) Xx

I saw Suzie’s, from Hello October, review of this and we keen on it then. And now, I’m basically star struck. I really hope I can lay off my wallet.

That foundation sounds lovely. I wanted to give Vitalumière Aqua a try but my skin is way too oily for it. I’m so glad there’s something that works with my skin now. 🙂 Thanks for the review!

Thanks for this review. I’ve been on the lookout for a new foundation as Paul & Joe pulled out of the Philippines and they have the only liquid foundation that can stand up to my uber acidic face. I’ll be sure to try this!

    • Yay! I hope it works for you!

It looks amazing on your skin! Unfortunately I have dry skin so this one might show them even more.

Your skin looks absolutely flawless in those shots posted above – this foundation really suits you! I’m scared to give Chanel products a try because I’m allergic to perfume and most of their face products are scented. Bummer.

    • Thanks love! That is a bummer, I have a friend who suffers from the same thing : (

    This sounds so lovely! x
