If you haven’t noticed by now TJ. has been completely renovated! Back in March when I relaunched the site I chose a template made by a web designer who never attempted to respond to any of my questions. I was so displeased that I decided to search elsewhere. I’m happy to say that my new designer has been nothing but professional and helpful throughout this ordeal! For the past 3 days I’ve been making tweaks and adjustments to my site, It really made me want to share this experience with the hope to shed some light. I’m no HTML expert and know the bare minimum to get me by. Here are some things you can do to update, revamp and declutter your site. . .
- Pick a template or theme that is user friendly.
- Get rid of super old posts that might be irrelevant to the content you’re currently producing.
- Add a new profile picture thats clear and easy recognizable, be sure to update all your social media accounts with the same photo to maintain consistency.
- While choosing colors for your website background, SM buttons and widgets make sure you use the same HTML color code so that it’s all cohesive.
- If you’re updating your site logo don’t forget to update your favicon as well!
- Make sure links to your social media accounts are in order, the command+C/V (copy & paste) key shortcut on my Macbook has been a life saver!
- I personally think the less the better, don’t let your sidebar overwhelm your content! Widgets are great tools but too many can be distracting while readers are visiting your site.
- Most web designers offer demo sites so that you can browse on tablets, phones and other devices! Don’t forget to see what your site may possibly look like while choosing a new theme/template.
- Definitely look at other sites for inspiration, some features might stick out to you and help decide what suites yours.
- Instagram to me is an extension of my blog, I made sure to highlight that by adding a slider at the footer of my site. Know what your strengths are and make them easily accessible to your viewers!
- This might be a great time to re-evaluate your schedule, get posts in order and think of new content to spill out. At the moment my schedule isn’t consistent at all with everything I have going on but I’m working on it!
- Update your blogroll, I’m always finding new blogs and I love to share them with you all!
- Finally you have a new excuse to purchase that notebook you’ve been lusting over, after all it’s for the greater good right?
