“This time I carefully curated my shelf and brought items I knew would work”
Let’s face it, I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to narrow it down to the essentials when it comes to packing beauty items for a trip… I blame it on the blogger in me, everything down to the packaging and formulas make it really f*cking hard ok! I think the problem is I like having options so I bring it all, just in case. This time I carefully curated my shelf and brought items I knew would work best for the warm city weather. We stayed at the Pod 39 which was the perfect size, the bathroom was beautiful with the subway tile and exposed industrial finishes.
Geez I even babble through typing… shall we begin (Daenerys Targaryen voice)? For skincare I narrowed it down to the essentials so my La Mer moisturizing cream, Glossier SPF, Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser, U.F.O facial oil, La Mer Eye Serum and Omorvizca Facial Mist. I’m testing out a new eye serum from Estee Lauder so I’ll keep you posted on how it performs! For the face I wanted something light and dewy, the Chanticaille Future Skin foundation is just that. It has enough coverage to even me out and is very hydrating as well. I brought along my Nars Soft Matte Complete concealer to cover a pesky bump that decided to show up last minute. I wanted something creamy for the cheeks but again very light in texture so the Tom Ford duo in Scintillate was the way to go, a golden highlight and peachy sheen. It wouldn’t be a proper shelfie if I didn’t bring some Glossier with… The haloscope in Topaz is my jam atm.
For eyes I used Burberry Almond eyeshadow and M.A.C Soba for a grunge effect, still love a grungy eye people! I skipped the primer and enjoyed the creased look. I also used my new 3ina Automatic Eye Pencil in 304 to smoke out the lash line, it’s such a great brown shade! For lips I brought options…yes options. I always carry a brown nude and a red. Tom Ford’s Ruby Rush and Revolve Around Me sufficed. As for lip liners Chanel Le Crayon Lèvres in Rouge Profond and M.A.C Stripdown were the perfect pairing.
To keep my lips nice and moisturized By Terry Baume de Rose is a savior. Now because carrying a pot of lip balm isn’t practical I also brought the Chanel Rouge Coco balm, it’s colorless and feels f*cking fantastic!
For smells, Gypsy Water is always my go-to! I swear I have this scent in every product Byredo carries, it’s amazing! A newer scent I decided to bring with is the Maison Louis Marie in Bois de Balincourt, if you like Le Labo Santal 33 you’ll love this one. Replica have released a new dry oil in their beach walk scent, it’s so warm and perfect for the Summertime.
A few of you asked for a hair video on how I get the messy bed head look so don’t worry it’s in the works, my secret weapon is the Oribe Dry Texturizing spray. It’s worth every penny!
And that my friends is shelfie done… xx
