I’ve been asked so many times for advice on where to start blogging, scheduling, inspiration and etc. So this is the first installment of posts to come, I’ll be sharing photography tips, my equipment and just some insight on my style of blogging.
First off people think that blogging is just putting together some words, take a few pics and boom post is ready. Well let me just say it takes a lot of dedication and hard work to ensure a good read. I really enjoy testing products and reviewing them to the best of my ability. I also enjoy food, fashion and life so incorporating that into my posts somehow adds a twist. It’s kinda like plain tortilla chip but when you add different types of salsa to the mix and they’re much more enjoyable if that makes any sense at all. You really get what you put in to your work and I really feel is reflects the type of person you are. I’ve only been blogging for a few months now but I really think out my content and put forth tremendous effort into my pictures and body. It can be very overwhelming at times especially if you have little ones like moi but If you set yourself some type schedule and structure to your work you’ll be in good shape.
I get inspiration from everywhere you name it, I take life in as it comes and use that as my motivation to become a better blogger. I like to work from bed and my desk mainly. I set myself up with candles, flowers, some beauty bits and a drink and I’m ready to go. Right now I blog 6 days out off the week and It works for me. I’ll type a post or several at night when my bugs have been put to bed and that way it’s ready for the next day. I can get away with working on a post during the day when it’s “nap time” and that is when I work from my comfy bed! I take pictures during the day obviously and edit them at night when I’m working on the corresponding post.
To keep myself organized I keep a journal with me at all times. I will jot notes, future posts, etc. I use tabs to keep sections organized by months. I will have my monthly favs, post ideas for the month and then keep track of all the posts I write for that month on the tabbed page. I also write the amount of viewers I had for the month when it’s over to compare to the previous month and make sure they’re going in the right direction. I keep a separate notebook for to-do lists or shopping lists as well. I will use my iPhone note app to quickly jot down any ideas that come to mind when I’m out of the house and I can’t be bothered with writing. I also print out a calendar for the month and I’m able to visualize it all a bit better. I get to see if I need to write more on a subject I haven’t written about in a while. I like to post fresh content and not do reviews for too long or routines all the time.
Honestly once you get into the habit of testing out products, taking photos and posting you’ll find what works best for you and your lifestyle. Your mind never shuts off and you’re constantly coming up with new ideas throughout the day. Blogging for me is an escape and such a passion of mine. I enjoy writing and sharing my thoughts with whomever is interested and the feedback is so rewarding. I love what I do and I’m so blessed that I’m able to do this everyday and can’t wait to see what the future holds for me. With all this said I hope this was helpful to those who already have blogs of their own or who are debating whether or not to create a blog. Stay tuned for more blogging tips!
