Hourglass has launched their new ambient lighting bronzers in 2 shades, Luminous and Radiant Bronze Light. They’re created with photoluminescent technology which features optically transparent particles that transform the look of skin by manipulating and refracting light to emphasize your best features. So in other words these bronzers will create depth and dimension to the face where a more traditional bronzer can look a little flat at times. I have the shade Radiant Bronze and it’s the darkest of the two shades. It’s definitely on the warmer side and I think better suited as a bronzer vs contouring. You can get away with using it as a subtle contour but if applied too much it would take away from the bronzed effect. Hourglass really nailed it with the pigment and making sure it wasn’t too warm or cool, in my opinion it’s perfectly color balanced.
Now it is priced at $50 which is justifiable if you already own any of the Ambient Lighting Powders. The Lighting powders are priced at $45 for 0.35oz of product, the bronzers contain 0.39oz so you’re paying $5 for the extra grams of product. If you think about it you don’t use bronzer every single day so it should last you quite a while. You’re also not using it as heavily as you would the ambient lighting powders, I’ve owned Dim Light for almost a year without hitting pan and it’s my setting powder of choice. For the quality and uniqueness of these bronzers I’d say it’s worth the splurge. It isn’t shimmery, the formula is pigmented, and very smooth. The packaging is the same rose gold color as the ambient blushes and feels really hefty.
The bronzers will be available to Sephora’s VIB Rouge customers 4/7 – 4/14, and will launch wide on Sephora.com and HourglassCosmetics.com on 4/15. It will hit all stores in May.
